About Ready Never

Ready Never 2017

Ready Never is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles, CA. During the first half of 2017, (Front-man/Producer/Songwriter) Ben Edwards (Benny Ed) and (Drummer/Producer/Engineer) Fernando Jaramillo (Jara Drums) have recorded a new EP, “Sandcastle Kid”, toured in South America, and filmed a handful of new music videos. The band was most eager to travel across the world and perform and collaborate – making stops in Santiago, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, San Diego, Las Vegas, Indio and the moon. Although “Sandcastle Kid” is the first record for Benny and Jara, it is the second for Ready Never. Benny, together with Chilean composer and music producer Rudi Meibergen, collaborated on Ready Never's debut album, Eleutherophobia (an electro pop album, through and through), which was released in 2014, with two of the records’ official music videos, "Assistant Press Play" and “Take that Pill”, going viral. Suddenly, songs written as inside jokes, and an album that was a pop experiment created by rock musicians, was getting more attention than the band had anticipated. In 2015 and 2016 Benny and Rudi parted ways to focus on other projects; and eventually Benny rejoined with Jara, whom he had worked with on Beto Cuevas’ Grammy award winning album, “Transformacion”. Benny and Jara spoke with Rudi and decided to get back on the saddle and take Ready Never in another direction, which was always precisely Benny’s original concept behind the band and the name. Ready to change the style, never settling on one sound. Defying the music industry formula laid out by the establishment; and staying true to the modern worlds’ ever evolving, A.D.D society. Ready Never is a way of music that will transport you beyond your everyday blacks, whites, and blues. Ready Never is never the same and always popping, always turning it inside out and downside up. Constantly playing devils advocate, and advocate devils playing constantly.

Ben Edwards was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised by Chilean parents. He is bilingual and bicultural, a frame of reference he embraced as a boy to learn about other people and how they live, love, and make music. He started playing bass in his parents' garage when he was 13. In high school Ben formed a psychedelic funk band called "Backyard Groove" with hits like "Aimless Times" and "Don't Forget to Breathe". Ben studied history at UC Santa Cruz while playing with many college bands; including three time Santa Cruz band of the year, Blueprint, as well as his own funk warehouse band, Gimik. After five glorious college years of playing music in the forest and on the stage, UC Santa Cruz told Ben it was time to go, which lead him to 9-to-5-ing as a sales executive for a shipping company in Los Angeles. Ben the salesman watched Glengarry Glen Ross every night to get himself energized. Soon the bug to play music returned and Ben returned on to the scene as a session musician and touring bass player for established pop and rock acts. It was during this phase when Ben;s colleagues on tour began calling him, Benny Ed. In 2007 he toured with several bands including Chris Barron from the Spin Doctors. In 2008 and 2009 he recorded and toured with pop singers Mitchel Musso of Disney and Beto Cuevas of Warner. In 2010 he became musical director and music video producer for Beto Cuevas, as well as toured extensively and played in front of 100,000 people crowds throughout the United States, Latin America, and Europe. He contributed and played bass throughout Grammy nominated album, “Miedo Escenico” (2008) as well as on Grammy award winning album, “Transformacion” (2012).

Fernando Jaramillo, is a Latin Grammy awarded drummer, Fernando has been drumming professionally for the past 26 years and began at the age of ten. In 1998, Fernando continued his career with the reknown Chilean rock band “Exsimio”. They recorded several albums as well as starred in music videos, including those for their hit songs ‘Cigoto’ and ‘Ensueño’. Their first album was distributed worldwide in 2001 by Musea Records, Mylodon Records and Lizard Records. They toured Europe in 2002 and were invited to numerous prestigious progressive rock festivals including “BajaProg 2001” (Mexico), the most important progressive rock music festival in the world, “RotaProg 2002” (Spain) and Brazil in 2004. Fernando has also drummed for various other artists, as a session drummer, including Grammy nominated Don Grusin, The Boston String Quartet, Beto Cuevas, among others.
